The Meirionnydd oakwoods are home to over a thousand different plant and animal species. This abundance of wildlife and flora makes the oakwoods an amazing source of food for animals and for us! Blackberry jam

- simple, but very tasty.

Ingredients
4 lb Blackberries
2 lb Sugar (always work on a ratio of half the weight of sugar to fruit)


Method
Wash the blackberries and pick out any nasties or creatures that may have found their way into your blackberries.
Heat the berries in a saucepan and, when they have become a soft pulp, pass through a sieve to remove any seeds.
To the puree, add sugar and boil the mixture for half an hour stirring occasionally.
Remove the mixture from the heat and pour into warmed jam jars and cover.
